What is the difference between the 6th and the 7th precept ? It seems to me that they are both about not talking and thinking bad about others and thus not raising our ego.

The sixth precepts says to not talk badly about those monks and nuns, who are also in training with you. Not going there where its is about whose fault it is, whose merit it is. The Buddha also said that if we are pure in mind, we do not go to these kind of comparisons.
The seventh precept is about not comparing one another´s path and understanding. If we are awakened, the thought that someone else were mistaken would not arrive. The truth of this precept is that we are one with heaven and earth.
