If I place an altar in my zendo what should I look out for?

For a zendo or a place of sitting we do not necessarily need an altar. If you feel that an altar would support you in finding a central, quiet place in your mind, then an altar is of great value. But actually to place a scroll or a calligraphy with a circle has this very meaning, that is why I am suggesting it. If you do place an altar in front of it, with a candle, and incense burner and a flower, it is nice to change the flower daily to remind us of our ever fresh and open mind. To always be fresh and open in our mind is our practice.
