I practice without a teacher 2x a day. I count breaths. What's next?

Zazen is not some wellness practice. It is for understanding the source of our life energy. Humans are beings in action, and yet we sit, because then we can focus on that inner question about the true self. What am I? Who is alive? Not looking at things outside, yet realizing the one who sees. Not hearing sounds, but realizing the one who hears. And this is not only about while we are alive, but to see even beyond. So if you sit 2 or 3 times a day, you need to forget the time in order to really see your own mind. You actually need to follow that inner question for 24 hours of the day, then for the first time you can be at one with the surroundings. Please do sit with this state of mind that encompasses all.
