< Back to Question and Answer

Dear Roshi I didnt even notice that either I was paying attention to my breathing or to the heart center which is much closer to me my mind was taking control unnoticed. I tried prayer 1 year ago and felt it would help. There is no specific prayer just surrender. And so I can be quiet just be. It is not even prayer but just being in silence. That way I can leave everything even my mind running around. So it is as if there is no practice or the practicioner. This makes it much more possible to open into space from watching or focusing inwards. I feel any kind of concentration locks me into a trap with anxiety. Can that be enough? Is this good? I wonder what you think about this.Thank you so much for your help. I hope you are in good health.Peter

For the self to search fort he self is difficult. That which searches is that which is to be found. You cannot wash water with water. The eye cannot see itself, only by looking in a mirror. To try and calm the mind is making the mind busy. It is not about sitting alone, rather being with the innumerable being around. When you are quiet, the world is quiet. To believe that the world is busy actually only shows that your mind is busy.
