Our ancestors lived with huge grace: living and dying in the Dharma...
Harada Roshi

< Back to Question and Answer

I am afraid of dying through realizing emptiness. I am also afraid because I have heard that it is possible to go insane at that moment. What advise do you have for me? Thank you.

Why would you become crazy by experiencing emptiness? The experience of emptiness is about the body and thoughts disappearing. The surroundings disappear. Maybe you are talking about some experience which is still an imagination on the surface of your mind, that is something which could make you crazy. If there are no such imaginations and you are healthy, then your stomach, heart, intestines, lungs, brain - all are empty. If your body is not sick, even your whole body is empty. If you can walk then your legs are empty. You can experience emptiness every day, why would you become crazy? To be healthy and full of energy. that is emptiness.
