What is our function as Zen Buddhists if war comes?

That is a very severe question. Ideally we should follow the teaching of the Buddha. Yet if we as people of our nation go against the decision of the country, it is a crime and we can end up in jail. And can we also speak up against our friends and family that go along with the decision of the government? In Japan many priests have had this bitter experience of not being able to speak up against their own country. It is too late if war happens. We need to step in before so that the possibility of war cannot arise.
