What does it mean to 'do not delude the true self'? Can the true self be even deluded?

That is the other way round, no? Our daily life is unaware, coming up in whisps, no clear decisions made, following that which we are used to, mostly our mind is unclear. We cannot see the whole picture and are moved around by our emotions. This precept means: do not intoxicate yourself. We can get intoxicated on so many things, that is why returning to zazen and purifying our mind is so needed.
