I'm utterly confused about the correct practice. Some teachers say I should develop samadhi, some that I should ask: Who am I? some that I should mentally investigate my body, thought, feelings etc. Can you clarify which practice will bring good results? How does satori happen anyway?

Zazen is about throwing yourself away. All the different approaches are for the same purpose of throwing yourself away. These approaches open up a process for us to throw ourselves away, so please use the practice that seems most suited to you. When you have completely thrown yourself away, that is a satori experience. As long as there is still any understanding mixed in, it is not satori.
