Zen and tea

The oasis was transformed into a ChaShitsu - tea room for the weekend workshop of Jana and Dietrich: Zen and tea with real charcoal in Hokuozan. As one participants says, "their speciality is not only being top teachers of the Ueda Tea school from Hiroshima, but also including Zen practice and teaching in their tea ceremony, sitting together in morning and night with formal meals. Zen alone can easily seem too harsh and strict, whereas the path of tea allows for a slower and softer diving into serenity. When my breathing becomes aligned and centered, it is felt by the tea guests, and they can center more easily themselves." It was the second time that a  "Zen and Tea" weekend workshop took place in Hokuozan, looking forward to the next chance to practice together!
