Tahoma Samu Sesshin 2016

Here at Tahoma Spring is alive and well with blossoms and beauty everywhere. Roshi remarked on the abundant various green bursting colors everywhere you look. 25 people giving themselves wholeheartedly to the training in this marvelous precious place for dharma practice. We are happy to have Roshi and Chisan here for this great chance. 54 people total plan to come and go over the month with a core group of 20 being able to train non stop in residence with one kosesshin and one Samu osesshin with Harada Roshi and one kosesshin with Daichi Roshi. Many people who have participated in sesshin with them for 25 years will be coming to sit. We are grateful for the gift of vibrant spring!

New ideas and new life builds the sangha rapport. Six day Kosesshin is winding up with preparations continuing for the seven day Samu Sesshin. Some people come for a few days and go to work and back. Thanks to so many many years of single minded efforts done with a true love of Tahoma, care and attention to detail by Myosho, so much functions well for large numbers of people to come and go. We still have some sleeping in tents while others at Enso House next door, as well as in the Zendo, the Tending Clouds women's commons, and the Dining Hall. Tenzo is well covered by Jiyu, with Seiwa helping. Rozan is amazing as 'registrar' or 'receptionist' as Roshi calls him. Gensho is consistent and strong as Koban, over all head monk, and samu leader. Having been here many many years he knows the ins and outs of the various mechanical and building issues. Kevin is organizing samu. Myosho will be chajin. Sogen Hori is here and it's great to have him. Jisai continues to give support from every angle. Jobul, Meitoku, May Lee, Hoetsu, Ann, Myokyo and Dace kept the place going this spring. Very awake zendo, not sleepy. Myokyo does so much with the books, calligraphies , zendo seating, and is doing mokygyo in lieu of a second head monk. Young Greg is doing Han and Inji. It really takes a village. So far so good. We are now getting food deliveries by truck which has been wonderful so far, with good quality food and one can order online. I continue as head jisharyo with a combo team of people coming and going, Taigan, Tanzan, MyoOn, Roko, Jokai, Thijs from Belgium. At age 20 this year Tahoma has some rusty tools that need some tender loving care. The Yaza deck by the lake continues to be a place of peace and refuge.
