Why doesn't Daruma Daishi have a beard?
To understand this profound intimacy
You must penetrate to the bone.
The innate truth of your self nature--
This must be intimately awakened to!

The five senses all becoming dumb and blind:
A deaf person becomes aware of a sound and awakens to the truth;
A blind person becomes aware of a colour and attains the Way .
