Boshi Kannon

Mother and child Kannon statue, also called Avalokiteshvara the Bodhisattva of compassion. Roshi describes the connection of a mother to her child, "when the mother feeds the child, she intuitively opens her mouth slightly as well, as if to help the child open its mouth. Looking into each other´s eyes, the connection is deep. Because nowadays parents and children are looking into different directions, that deep connection and feeling of belonging is getting lost."

Here you can see the statue which was handcrafted by Akaeda Sensei, a long time friend and supporter of Sogenji.

And here the modern version of it, which will be placed in a small shrine on the grounds of Sogenji.

Due to Roshi's busy schedule this year, we are currently not accepting any new questions at this time
